Pastor Craig S. Pickett, Sr. 

Is the son of the late Aaron and Esther Pickett.  He earned his undergraduate degree from Shaw University, Raleigh, NC and his Master's Degree from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, OK.  Pastor Craig Pickett is married to the lovely Patricia Pickett.  They have three sons, three daughters-in-laws and two grandchildren. 

 

A Leader 

Pastor Pickett served eleven years in the United States Army Corps of Engineers as a Military Officer.  He served in Panama City, Panama, Fort Leonardwood, Missouri and at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, as an Assistant Professor of Military Science.  In 1996, he ended his military career and he moved his family to Charlotte, NC.  He continued serving in Federal Government as a Project Supervisor for the Department of Commerce overseeing multiple research projects in five states for the Department of Justice, the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce. 

 

A True Servant 

Upon moving to Charlotte, Pastor Pickett and family joined New Bethel Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Tommie Murphy.  He served faithfully for eleven years in several leadership positions.  He was the Director of the Audio Video Ministry, Director of the Marriage Ministry, Director of Altar Workers Ministry, member of the Ministers and Elders Council and Overseer of the Beautification Ministry.  While working in the ministry, he accepted his call to pastor.

 

The Call by God

In 2008, after much fasting and praying, Pastor Pickett was led by God to start Breakthrough Ministries Church of God in Christ in Concord.  The ministry was started at Barber Scotia College with just Pastor and Lady Pickett.  The ministry remained at the college until a facility was secured in the heart of Concord.  The Lord has blessed Breakthrough Ministries (BTM) to grow and reach many souls for the Kingdom of God.  

 

A Teacher and Preacher 

Pastor is a strong believer in preaching and teaching the Word of God. Compromising the gospel is NOT an option.  He is a strong believer of Proverb 4:7, which declares “with all thy getting get understanding.”  He believes in teaching the Word of God that can be easily understood at all levels.  Having taught in many compacities, he understands the significance of preaching and teaching God’s Word to prevent Satan from deceiving God’s people.  

 

A Visionary 

The Lord has proven to be faithful and has blessed Pastor Pickett’s endeavors. Breakthrough Ministries has developed into a thriving ministry.  In 2015, BTM purchased a new worship facility with four parcels of land.  The ministry has launched new initiatives to include noonday prayer, new converts classes, new members classes, leadership classes and much more to empower individuals to exercise their God given talents in ministry.  

 

A Heart to Win Souls

God has instilled in Pastor Pickett a compassion for the people of God.  He has a desire to see individuals grow to their God given potential.  It is a love for people that compels him to encourage, empower and challenge individuals to trust God with their whole heart.  It is with the love of Christ, that he encourages believers to walk by faith and not by sight.
